Title: Livestock Development Coordinator
Type: Full-time, Exempt, salary commiserate with experience and education
Reports to: AFAN Executive Director 
Location: Lincoln, NE – with the potential to be remote
Travel: In-state and occasional national travel required 

Position Overview: 

The Livestock Development Coordinator leads livestock development initiatives in Nebraska, supporting livestock producers in locating, modernizing, or expanding facilities. This position will work with county leaders to expand opportunities for livestock.  The position will work with state and local economic development professionals to recruit and retain agricultural businesses in Nebraska.

• This position also serves as the Executive Director for the Nebraska State Dairy Association (15% of time).

Responsibilities: 

• Serve as a resource for livestock producers, assisting with site development, regulatory compliance, county permitting, state and federal financial programs, and resolving barriers.

• Foster partnerships with local and state officials, businesses, and organizations. 

• Participate in AFAN livestock development teams, including, but not limited to, Dairy, Beef, Pork, Poultry, and Aquaculture as assigned.

• Represent AFAN at meetings, speaking engagements, and trade shows. 

• Assist in improving the regulatory environment for livestock operations.

• Executive Director of the NSDA duties to include organizational management, producer relations and support, legislative and policy strategy, and other activities to meet the strategic plan.

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in agriculture/livestock.

• Knowledge of livestock production, development, and regulatory compliance.

• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

• Self-starter with a bias toward action and decision-making on imperfect information.

Physical & Mental Requirements: 

• Light to medium physical work, with occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. 

• Regular in-state and occasional national travel. 

• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks with a positive attitude.

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 

Other Duties: 

Additional duties as assigned in support of AFAN’s mission to grow the livestock industry.
