AFAN is Hiring Livestock Development Coordinator

Title: Livestock Development Coordinator 
Type: Full-time, Exempt 
Reports to: Executive Director 
Location: Remote – preference for North Platte, Nebraska area 
Travel: In-state and occasional national travel required 

Position Overview: 

The Livestock Development Coordinator leads livestock development initiatives in Nebraska, supporting livestock producers in locating, modernizing, or expanding facilities. This role includes networking, providing regulatory guidance, and assisting with the development of resources for the livestock industry. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as a resource for livestock producers, assisting with facility development, regulatory compliance, and environmental assessments. 
  • Research, draft, and build resources to support livestock operations. 
  • Navigate county zoning, permits, and regulatory processes. 
  • Foster partnerships with local and state officials, businesses, and organizations. 
  • Participate in AFAN livestock development teams, including Dairy, Beef, Pork, Poultry, and Aquaculture. 
  • Represent AFAN at meetings, speaking engagements, and trade shows. 
  • Assist in improving the regulatory environment for livestock operations in the center-west region. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in agriculture/livestock 
  • Knowledge of livestock development, production, and regulatory compliance 
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills 
  • Self-starter with a bias toward action and decision-making on imperfect information 

Physical & Mental Requirements: 

  • Light to medium physical work, with occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. 
  • Regular in-state and occasional national travel. 
  • Ability to work under pressure, maintain focus, and manage multiple tasks. 
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Must have reliable transportation and a positive work attitude.
